Aimee graduated from Keene State College in 2006 with a Bachelors in Health and Fitness promotion. During her time at Keene State, she was a trainer for both faculty and students as well as a strength and agility trainer for Keene States sports teams. While in college, Aimee worked as a paraprofessional providing ABA intervention at a preschool and elementary school and this is where she found her passion working in the pediatric field. After that, Aimee decided to pursue a career in Physical Therapy and graduated with her Associates in Physical Therapy in 2013. Aimee has training in the Graston soft tissue massage technique and is certified and trained in Crisis Prevention Intervention, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention. Aimee has also spent time volunteering in the adaptive skiing program at Gunstock Mountain and as a volunteer for the Special Olympics. When Aimee is not performing reevaluations or leading groups, she can assist with any membership questions and set up.  Aimee s excited to be part of the MOG as she strongly believes that staying active leads to a prolonged, happier life. Fitness has always been a passion of hers and she is hoping to bring that passion to the MOG,  to inspire others to make a change and push themselves to achieve their goals. Aimee enjoys running and is working toward running her first half marathon in summer 2015! She also enjoys hiking, kayaking and boating in the summer.

Jocelyn Nicoll

Administrative Assistant/Exercise Assistant

Jocelyn is originally from the state of Vermont. She graduated from Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY in May 2011 with a double major in studio art and art history. Jocelyn relocated to Maine in July of 2011 and worked as the volunteer coordinator for physicians, nurses and receptionists at the Portland Community Free clinic. This facility provides free primary care to adults in Cumberland County. Jocelyn is a newlywed and got married in June of 2013. Jocelyn enjoys working in her garden, cooking and trying new recipes. She continues to practice in the arts and is a painter, creator of homemade paper and a sculptor. Jocelyn also likes spending time with her rescue dog, Marli, who is a retired sheep herder. At Mainely Kidz, Jocelyn is responsible for scheduling and all aspects of the front desk position.  She is excited to work with a diverse population of new MOG clients and is looking forward to being your first point of contact, to assist with all your administrative needs.

Veterans

With medically trained staff always accessible, the M.O.G. is well equipped to serve the unique needs of veterans and help them achieve the exceptional quality of life and health they deserve. Some veterans can exercise independently (with quarterly program re-evaluations) while others may need closer supervision, guidance and training to improve their health and stay safe.  The Saco M.O.G. will continually be adding equipment that is accessible for all.

The M.O.G. provides three months of membership for FREE to any post-9/11 veteran. In addition, the M.O.G. offers 15% off of membership fees for 3 months for ANY VETERAN or active military personnel. To enroll, veterans must sign up at the M.O.G. at 895 Portland Rd in Saco. Veterans will verify their service by presenting their DD214 or an active military ID.

We are continually updating and adding classes to our schedule based on feedback and your suggestions. Some of our offerings include TRX Suspension, TRX Rip, Spinning, PlyoPower, and Circuit training classes. Group classes typically run for 6 weeks at a time.

Fall Risk

Many older adults often limit physical activity because they are afraid of falling or have a history of falls. An inactive lifestyle can actually lead to a greater risk of injury due to a fall.

Fall prevention exercises are crucial to maintaining muscular strength, building endurance, and improving balance to get through your everyday activities safely. Increased physical activity can also build confidence and enhance your ability to remain independent.

The M.O.G.’s expert medically trained staff will provide a safe and supervised exercise treatment program to help you remain active, be confident and stay safe. By working with all aspects of your health history and combining resistance training with coordination/balance exercises, you can reduce your risk of falls and minimize injuries associated with a fall.

Diabetes

Managing diabetes can be challenging, but we can help you learn to manage blood sugar through regular exercise. Understanding the patterns of your personal blood sugar changes and how insulin affects your body can free you to live a life you may never have thought possible. People with diabetes can safely exercise at the M.O.G. with close tracking of blood sugar responses. Whether it be diabetic neuropathies, hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia, our medically trained staff will work closely with your physician to maintain safe levels during exercise. We are dedicated to assisting in the management of your blood sugars and will consult with your physician to ensure that the safest and most effective levels are attained. Our ultimate goal is a reduction in your need for diabetic medications due to the amazingly therapeutic effect of exercise on your blood sugar.

MOGKidz

The MOGKidz Program is a comprehensive program that targets childhood obesity and is also for children of normal weight that may require adaptations to participate in gross motor activities.  The program focuses on physical activity, healthy nutrition, family involvement and education.  Our goal is to teach your child the importance of leading a healthy, physically active lifestyle while having FUN!
